Traveling across Namibia

Stephanie and Emily on a Camel!

We just returned from a week traveling around Namibia and we had a blast!  Bobby's sister Sarah and her friend Emily were visiting so we got to show them around CCF for a couple days before taking off on the road to see Namibia.

This was also our first trip with our new (to us) truck that we just bought from another fellow CCF-er who is returning back to their home country.  Our truck is a 2002 Quad Cab Toyota Hilux Bakkie (pick up truck).  It's an older truck but supposed to be pretty reliable.  The Hilux seems to be the truck of choice here so we wanted to get something that is reliable.

We're calling our truck Squirtle because he's pretty slow and a little old.  We also got the full Namibia experience getting one flat and having to push start the truck a few times.  We also had to get it towed in Swakopmund to have the starter looked at, but we made it home after that.  Namibia's roads are pretty terrible so between that and the car troubles it was quite the experience to say the least.  In the end the truck got us back home though.

One of our favorite stops was Etosha National Park where we had some really nice animal viewing.  We saw Lions, Hyenas, Rhinos, Elephants, Giraffe and much more!  The highlight was seeing only for a few moments a Brown Hyena which are very elusive and very rare sightings.

There were so many other highlights along the trip to highlight, but instead of typing it all out here's a bunch of images of the trip below!  We had an amazing time and can't wait to travel out again soon...especially to Etosha which is one of our favorite places to visit.
